Vintage Tuareg Carved Wooden Tent Post

This striking carved wooden piece comes from the Tuareg people of Mali and the wider Sahara region.

Traditionally, carved posts like this formed part of nomadic tent life,  used within or around the tent structure, to support, mark or organise the home. What began as a functional object was also beautifully decorated, with geometric carving that speaks of identity, protection, family and the rhythm of desert life.

Now mounted on a stand, it becomes a sculptural decorative piece for the home.
