Nupe Side Table

A beautifully sculptural Nupe side table, hand carved from a single piece of solid wood, with a distinctive open geometric design that gives the piece a strong architectural quality. Traditionally made by the Nupe people of Nigeria, each table is individually carved, giving every piece its own subtle variations, markings and character.

Compact yet full of presence, this is an incredibly versatile piece for interiors. Use it beside a sofa or armchair as a side table, position it next to a bed as an alternative bedside table, or style it independently as a decorative accent piece. It also works beautifully topped with a favourite lamp, a stack of books or a simple ceramic vessel.

As each table is handmade from a single piece of wood, variations in tone, carving, surface texture and historic markings should be expected and are part of its individual character. Due to the nature of hand carved the top is not perfectly level.
