Ghanian Woven Fan

These beautiful Ghanaian Woven Fans form part of our Africa Collection.  Handwoven pieces full of colour, craftsmanship and character.

Traditionally made in Ghana as practical hand fans, these pieces were designed for everyday use, offering cooling airflow in the heat. Today, while they still celebrate that original function, they also make wonderful decorative wall pieces for the home.

Each Bolga fan is handwoven using natural grasses, often elephant grass or veta vera grass, with a wrapped leather handle for strength and detail. This gives every piece a lovely tactile quality, combining softness, structure and artisan craftsmanship. The weave itself is what makes them so special: bold patterns, arched shapes and rich colour combinations that turn an everyday object into something sculptural and design led.

These fans are especially striking used as wall décor. Hung individually, they create a simple statement; displayed in a group, they bring texture, rhythm and colour to a wall. They work beautifully in hallways, bedrooms, garden rooms, kitchens or relaxed living spaces, adding warmth and a collected feel without being heavy or formal.
