Antique Restored Chinese Apothecary Cabinet

This beautifully crafted apothecary chest is in outstanding condition and exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship and design. Originally intended for use in a wealthy household or by a traditional Chinese apothecary, it was designed to store a wide range of medicinal herbs, roots, and remedies. The chest features 30 small drawers, each fitted with a ring pull and internally divided into sections to allow for the meticulous organisation of individual items. 

The original elm wood has aged to a soft, warm tone, remarkably well-preserved, apothecary chests of this quality are becoming increasingly rare, especially those still with the original red Chinese symbols  identifying the  traditional herbs, seeds, roots, bark, minerals.  Which makes this a truly unique and characterful addition to any interior.

This cabinet is one off, featuring unique marks and subtle variations that highlight its past life and the careful artistry of its restoration.
