Antique Elm Cabinet
A beautifully timeworn rural Chinese storage cabinet, from northern China and dating from the late Qing Circa 200 years old. Made from solid elm , the piece features two hand carved upper drawers above a double door cupboard, with original rustic paintwork worn back through years of use. The carved drawer fronts have a floral / lotus like motif, this type of decoration was often used for prosperity, good fortune and domestic harmony, Originally used in a rural home for storing textiles, household goods or treasured family items, it now makes a striking sideboard, hallway cabinet or characterful storage piece.
